Workshop “Model of Financial Intelligence Unit and Mechanism for Controlling Suspicious Transactions in Japan – Recommendations for Viet Nam”

Mr. Nguyen Hung Quang shared some international experience regarding the beneficial owner regime in enterprises at the Workshop

On June 13, 2025, Mr. Nguyen Hung Quang – Managing Partner of NHQuang&Associates, attended the Workshop “Model of Financial Intelligence Unit and Mechanism for Controlling Suspicious Transactions in Japan – Recommendations for Viet Nam” organized by the Central Internal Affairs Commission in coordination with the Law and Justice Project (JICA).

In his presentation delivered at the workshop, Mr. Quang shared some international experience regarding the beneficial owner regime in enterprises to enhance the effectiveness of anti-money laundering efforts, combat “front company” investments, investments concealed under another’s name and promote business transparency, which addresses the criteria for identifying beneficial owners, the collection, transparency, and management of beneficial owner information in corporate governance.

According to Mr. Quang, international experience demonstrates that this regime in corporate law is essential to improve business environment, combat money laundering, corruption, and front company investments. Therefore, beneficial owner regime in Vietnamese law needs to be strengthened, including the supplementation and refinement of provisions on beneficial owners in the upcoming revised Enterprise Law.
