Digital transformation and strategic autonomy in Viet Nam’s cultural industry

In the context of a rapidly evolving digital transformation, Viet Nam’s cultural industry faces a great opportunity to break through, expand its market, and assert its position on the global creative map. Beyond simply applying technology, an article by Mr. Nguyen Hung Quang – Managing Partner of NHQuang&Associates, and a consultant on the development of regulations for the cultural industry in the Law on Capital City 2024, emphasizes the importance of “strategic autonomy”, that is, the ability to master technology, data, and content distribution platforms. This is considered key to both economic development and the protection of cultural sovereignty in the digital environment.

From a policy and business perspective, the article suggests many practical directions: promoting innovation, building a digital content ecosystem with Vietnamese identity, and perfecting the legal framework to support new business models. Digital transformation, therefore, is not only a tool but also a foundation for the sustainable development of Viet Nam’s cultural industry, enhancing its competitiveness and gradually spreading Vietnamese cultural values to the world.

With experience advising several businesses operating in cultural industries such as film; fine arts, photography and exhibitions; performing arts; software and entertainment games; advertising; handicrafts; cultural tourism; creative design; television, and having participated in contributing to the improvement of the Law on Advertising 2012, Mr. Quang and his colleagues understand the needs of clients and the market, as well as the legal issues in the cultural industry in Viet Nam.
