The Digital World in Context_Workshop in Hong Kong
The development of AI, blockchain technology, digital marketing, e-commerce, virtual reality, cloud computing, digital payments, and other innovations requires a careful examination of legal doctrines and principles to understand how traditional contracts and transactions must adapt to the digital world. βThe Digital World in Contextβ is the inaugural activity of the Asia-Pacific Contracts Law Project, a collaboration among scholars studying contract law issues in the Asia-Pacific region. The project is chaired by Professor Ying Khai Liew from Melbourne University Law School and Professor Lusina Ho from the University of Hong Kong. The aim of this research initiative is to assess how contract law in various Asia-Pacific countries is addressing the challenges posed by the digital transformation.
On January 9-10, 2025, the Symposium on “Asia-Pacific Contract Law β The Digital World in Context” was held at the University of Hong Kong. Scholars from across the Asia-Pacific region, involved in the projectβs research, participated in the symposium.
