Workshop on “International cooperation in recovering corrupt assets under the United Nations Convention in Viet Nam”

On the morning of May 28, 2024, the Central Internal Affairs Committee in coordination with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) organized the Workshop on “International cooperation in recovering corrupt assets under the United Nations Convention in Viet Nam”. The Workshop was co-chaired by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee; Mr. Ryan McKean, Director of the International Drug Control and Law Enforcement Agency in Ha Noi; Mr. Patrick Haverman, Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Viet Nam. Also attending the Workshop were representatives of agencies and units of the Central Internal Affairs Committee and representatives of the Internal Affairs Committees of some provinces and cities; representatives of the Government Inspectorate, the Supreme People’s Procuracy, the Supreme People’s Court; the General Department of Civil Judgment Enforcement; Representatives of the University of Law, University of Procuracy; Experts in the field of Justice, Lawyers, etc.
The workshop aims to provide comments on the draft research report on the topic of the same name, jointly conducted by a group of Vietnamese and international authors. The draft report reflects international trends and experiences in international cooperation in recovering corrupt assets, and also reflects Viet Nam’s efforts in this work. The draft report was assessed by the delegates as being of good quality. Sharing the same view with these comments, Mr. Nguyen Hung Quang, Managing Partner of NHQuang&Associates, one of the delegates invited to comment on the draft report, also had some additional comments to make the Report more complete, become a reference document in the process of building and practicing laws on anti-corruption.
